Kell Brook: 'When we do meet he's going to get taken out'

Kell Brook: 'When we do meet he's going to get taken out'

Kell Brook believes he would stop Amir Khan if the British fighters ever squared up in the ring.

Johnny Nelson visited 'Special K' at home in Sheffield in Ringside - Ones to Watch, and quizzed the rising star on Khan, who recently lost his WBA light welterweight crown to Danny Garcia.

Khan has long been considered a future challenger to Floyd Mayweather Jr, but Brook gives his fellow Brit no chance against the American, who he says would be the fighter he'd most admire if he wasn't a pro himself.

"Khan can't beat Mayweather," he said. "I don't know if it will happen but he can't beat him. He's got no chance."

Pressed on what would happen if he were to face Khan, Brook said: "He'd get dropped like a bad habit.

"He's been dropped by super-featherweights. He's been dropped a few times. I'm a big kid. I'm accurate, I've got speed, I've got his number.

"When we do meet he's going to get taken out.

"We sparred as amateurs and I schooled him. I've heard him say the same thing but if we could go back to the coaches who were there they'll tell you exactly what happened."

Reflecting on how recent bouts with Matthew Hatton and Carson Jones have propelled him into the limelight, Brook says his feet are still firmly on the ground.

"I'm more known now and I get stopped when I go out, but I'm still the same person," he said.

"There are a lot of so-called friends around but I've got a group of friends who've been there since day one and they're my genuine friends."

However, Kell was less optimistic about what would have happened to him if he hadn't found boxing.

"I'd be a bad lad if I didn't get into boxing," he said. "Where I've been brought up it's easy to fall into it if you've got no education and no other things to do. It's easy to do."
