Saunders: Second-round stoppage

Billy Joe Saunders made short work of Jarrod Fletcher, retaining his Commonwealth middleweight title with a second-round stoppage at London's York Hall.

Fletcher came into the bout on the back of 12 pro wins and defeated the likes of James DeGale and Craig McEwan in the amateurs.

But Saunders never allowed the Australian to get going and had the bout over before the crowd settled into their seats.

Saunders landed a powerful left flush on Fletcher's temple and followed that up with rapid punches to the torso forcing the visitor to take a knee.

The assault continued once Fletcher had got back to his feet, and with blood flowing profusely from his nose, referee Ian John-Lewis intervened.
