Michael Katsidis: Would take on Ricky Hatton

Michael Katsidis: Would take on Ricky Hatton

Australian lightweight Michael Katsidis would relish taking on Ricky Hatton in Manchester, according to his agent.

Hatton will make his comeback to the ring in Manchester on November 24 - three years after losing his IBO light-welterweight title in Las Vegas - and Katsidis is being tipped to be his opponent.

Katsidis has lost four of his last five bouts but would make a tricky opponent for Hatton on his comeback - his career record is 34 fights, 28 wins with 23 by knockout which includes wins over English duo Kevin Mitchell and Graham Earl, but a defeat at the hands of Scottish world champion Ricky Burns.

Katsidis' agent Matthew Tripp told the BBC: "At this stage there have been no discussions.

"But it is something we would consider depending on the purse and depending on the weight.

"It wouldn't be a problem to fight in Manchester. Michael has been over to Britain and he's won two world titles over there.

"We have had nothing from their camp at the moment. But 24 November would give us enough time - Michael is in full training at the moment."
