The Chennai Super Kings moved into the Indian Premier League play-off places with a 10-run win over rock-bottom Deccan Chargers.

The Super Kings survived a late surge from the rejuvenated Cameron White, who blasted 77 from 53 balls, to end their three-game winless run.

Super Kings top-scorer Faf du Plessis again led the way as his 45 at the top of the order, while solid contributions from India duo MS Dhoni (34) and Suresh Raina (32), ensured a solid total of 160 for six.

White took charge of the chase but when he was run out in the penultimate over the Chargers' hopes were dashed.

White's innings continued his recent renaissance, after his 78 against the Pune Warriors last week, to help end a horror form slump that has seen him dumped as Australia Twenty20 captain and exiled from their limited-overs teams in the past six months.
