Surrey's LV= County Championship clash with Durham was abandoned without a ball being bowled after another overnight deluge left the Oval awash.

Umpires Martin Bodenham and Mark Benson called the game off well ahead of Sunday's planned 11am start time in order to allow Durham's squad to head off towards Birmingham for their next game against Warwickshire starting on Wednesday.

With the covers at the Oval under water, the outfield sodden and practice wickets flooded the officials made the only decision they could.

This was Surrey's first total washout at the Oval since the Championship clash against Sussex in 2007.
