Martin van Jaarsveld: Signed for Glamorgan

Glamorgan have signed veteran South African batsman Martin van Jaarsveld for this year's FriendsLife t20 campaign.

The 37-year-old served Kent with distinction between 2005 and 2011, and agreed a deal to join Leicestershire at the end of the last campaign. However, the agreement was cancelled in the autumn when Van Jaarsveld felt he was no longer able to properly compete in the four-day game.

He has shone in 20-over cricket in his native country since then, leading the Nashua Titans to a domestic double, and will arrive in Wales at the end of May.

Van Jaarsveld said: "The Titans have had a really successful season and this has re-ignited my passion in the game. I enjoy playing Twenty20 cricket and I will be working hard to help the Welsh Dragons reach the 2012 Friends Life t20 Finals Day, particularly as it is being held at the SWALEC Stadium."
