Stuart Broad has warned his England team-mates not to take the West Indies lightly when the three-Test series gets under way at Lord's on Thursday.
England have not lost a home Test series since defeat to South Africa in 2008 and welcome a West Indies side who have claimed only one victory in their last 18 Tests on English soil.
But, looking past the current form of the sides, Broad believes West Indies - led by former England bowling coach Ottis Gibson - will still pose plenty of problems for the No.1 ranked nation.
Pace bowlers Kemar Roach and Fidel Edwards are two of the quickest seamers in world cricket while stalwart batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is touring England, where he averages 64.66, for a sixth time.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the series, Nottinghamshire paceman Broad said: "They've got Ottis Gibson as a coach who worked within the England set-up for three years, they've got two bowlers who can bowl very quick, they've got Chanderpaul who's a world class batsman who's toured England on numerous occasions, so they're certainly a team we have to be very careful of.
"We have to perform the way we can perform and should perform. That all starts on Thursday.
"We won't look too far ahead in the series. We'll look to that first hour in the first Test match like we always do, try and set the tone and try and hit them hard."
