UEFA have opened fresh disciplinary proceedings against the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) for incidents during Monday's Euro 2012 Group C game with Spain.

The HNS were fined 80,000 euros (£64,561) on Tuesday by UEFA for "the setting-off and throwing of fireworks and the improper conduct of supporters (racist chants, racist symbols)" at Thursday's match against Italy.

UEFA have now opened a new case into the improper conduct of both the Croatian fans and also the players during the country's 1-0 defeat to the Spanish in Gdansk.

A UEFA statement read: "UEFA has today opened disciplinary proceedings against the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) for the setting-off and throwing of fireworks, and the improper conduct of supporters (display of racist banners and symbols) at the EURO 2012 Group C match against Spain in Gdansk on Monday.

"The disciplinary case also involves the improper conduct of the team (six Croatian players received a yellow card during the match)."

The case will be dealt with on Sunday, June 24.

On Tuesday UEFA punished the HNS for offences which included the racist abuse of Italy striker Mario Balotelli by between 300 and 500 of the country's fans during Thursday's game in Poznan, which was also dogged by accusations a banana had been thrown on to the field.

The HNS, who last week labelled their misbehaving fans "deviant", were also fined for the setting-off and throwing of fireworks for a second time at Euro 2012.

They had already been docked 25,000 euros (£20,131) for that - and the invasion of the pitch by a supporter - during their 3-1 win over Republic of Ireland.

Croatia have been previously fined twice for racism by UEFA and FIFA since 2008.

Croatia's defeat to Spain saw them knocked out of Euro 2012, finishing third in Group C behind the reigning champions and Italy.
