Barnsley captain Jacob Butterfield is set to decide his future in the next few days.
The midfielder insists only an offer from a Premier League club will prevent him signing a new deal with the Tykes.
Butterfield had previously stated he had played his last game for Keith Hill's side but the 22-year-old has rethought his options.
"There should be developments over the next few days but I can't go into details at the moment," he told the Chronicle.
"I've said all along that I want to make the step up and play in the Premier League, it's where I've wanted to play since I was a little boy. If that doesn't happen then I don't want to play for another Championship team - I'm happy at Barnsley.
"In terms of Championship football I don't see myself anywhere other than Barnsley."
