Crewe held their nerve after a spirited second-half fightback by Southend and will now play either Torquay or Cheltenham at Wembley for a place in League One next season. Southend's players are sitting on the pitch reflecting on hat might have been, but in truth the Alex should have been out of sight by half-time and they were almost made to pay a costly price for their missed chances.
