CLARETS DUO SET FOR LATE FITNEESS TESTS

27th April 2012, 02:28pm

Ben Mee: Will be assessed

Ben Mee: Will be assessed

Burnley duo Ben Mee and Jay Rodriguez face late fitness tests ahead of the gane.

Mee could make a surprise return in defence having spent a month on the sidelines after scans revealed a small fracture in his back.

On Sunday evening Rodriguez was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season and is hoping to cap his 21-goal campaign with an appearance against the Robins, providing he can overcome the groin and hip problems that have dogged him in recent weeks.

Rodriguez's fellow forward Martin Paterson remains on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint - the latest setback of an injury-ravaged season for the 24-year-old.

The Clarets could finish anywhere between 10th and 14th in the final standings depending on the result against Derek McInnes' men.

Meanwhile Brett Pitman returns from suspension as Bristol City look to extend their unbeaten streak in the Championship to eight matches.

Pitman has completed a three-match ban incurred by his dismissal against Coventry on Easter Monday and is therefore available once again to Derek McInnes. He will now have to compete with the in-form pair of Chris Wood and Jon Stead for a place up front.

Kalifa Cisse has been ruled out of the clash after undergoing a hernia operation, while fellow midfielder Marvin Elliott (Achilles) and striker David Clarkson (ankle) remain sidelined.

On-loan defender Andre Amougou was ineligible to face parent club Burnley and has therefore returned to Turf Moor, while Jordan Spence has been sent back to West Ham ahead of the final day of the season.
