Laurent Blanc intends to see as many of his France squad as possible get some match action in Sunday's friendly against Iceland in Valenciennes.

Blanc has named a provisional 26-man party ahead of the European Championship, which will have to be reduced to 23 as Les Bleus focus on their opening Group D match against England in Donetsk.

France have lined up a total of three friendly games for Blanc to fine-tune his preparations.

"You can anticipate a big turnover in the first preparation game against Iceland," the France manager confirmed.

"We will have to see after that, but we can envisage similar turnover against Serbia in our second friendly match and then less against Estonia.

"The idea is to get to the Estonia game with most of the players who will be starting against England."

Franck Ribery has been given some extra time off following Bayern Munich's run the the Champions League final.

Forward Karim Benzema netted 32 goals for Real Madrid and is confident of cementing his place in the final Euro 2012 squad.

"I am preparing myself in order to feel good," Benzema said.

"In any case you always need to be at your best, whether in your own club or in the French selection.

"I know that a lot is expected from me, like everyone else, but I need to be at my best just like the rest of the team so I don't feel any pressure and I will try everything so as to be at my best."

Given the shambolic 2010 World Cup campaign, Blanc accepts France cannot suffer again at a major championship.

He added: "We are hoping to reach the quarter-finals, first and foremost.

"As you all know, once you're in the knockout phase of a competition anything can happen over 90 or 120 minutes, and I can remind you that France hasn't gone past the first round the last two times. That's the reality of the situation."

Despite France being fancied as dark horses for the tournament, following an unbeaten 18-game run which also included victory away to Germany last time out, Blanc believes his talented squad are far from the finished article.

"Tactically there's plenty to work on," he told reporters.

"We want to put in place a certain style of play when we have the ball, the friendly matches in November didn't really let us do that.

"We need to improve our amount of ball possession. In the qualifiers it was quite good, but above all, it's the way we use it."

Perhaps to deflect expectation away from his own side, Blanc played up the chances of their rivals.

Blanc added: "I can see Spain winning the Euro. I can't say the same about us.

"They are still a cut above the rest of the field, but anything can happen in a one-off match of football and the Netherlands and Germany aren't that far behind."

Iceland are not expected to offer much real challenge to France, having won only one of their past 12 internationals.
