Dijon missed the chance to drag Lorient back into the Ligue 1 relegation mire as they were unable to make the breakthrough in a goalless draw at the Stade du Moustoir.

The visitors went into the game one place and one point off the bottom of the table, a point adrift of safety and four behind their 13th-placed hosts.

That was also how the night ended, despite the movement among the other teams at the foot of the table, as a goalless stalemate ensued.

Eric Bautheac had the best of the first-half opportunities as Dijon pressed for a much-needed three points, and his early free-kick was punched away by keeper Jeremie Janot.

Lorient responded through Arnaud Le Lan's 30-yard effort, which was turned behind by Baptiste Reynet, but Brice Jovial then shot just wide for Dijon.

Bautheac went closest of all on the stroke of half-time as he controlled Thomas Guerbert's cross but saw his right-footed strike brilliantly saved at full stretch by Janot.

The pattern continued after the break, with Dijon having the better of the few chances on offer.

Benjamin Corgnet was first to threaten but after beating several defenders he wastefully shot wide from just outside the box.

Alaixys Romao went close for Lorient with a 25-yard lob after linking up well with Yann Jouffre, but his effort sailed just over.

Dijon wasted their clearest chance nine minutes from time as Corgnet crossed to Bennard Kumordzi, who tamely stroked the ball straight at Janot.
