London 2012 have put 1.4million tickets for the Olympic football tournament back on sale with organisers confident the problems which struck the system in January have been solved.
Organisers took the decision to suspend re-sales of unwanted tickets in January after serious issues with the Ticketmaster computer system.
The technology has been worked on since and tested - the testing process and the staging of test events were the reasons given for the football ticket sale not coinciding with last Tuesday's draw - and organisers say the system can now sell up to 250,000 tickets an hour.
The sales window opened at 1100 BST on Monday. It will close at 2300 on Sunday, May 6. Tickets will be available for all but five matches: Great Britain men v Uruguay, the men's quarter-final and semi-final at Wembley, and the men's and women's final at Wembley.
The other 1million Olympic tickets, for non-football events, will go on sale in mid-May together with 100,000 football "contingency" tickets for the high-demand games.
Ticketmaster chief executive Chris Edmonds said: "We have identified some of the issues that caused us problems in January. We are confident we can cope with anything thrown at us."
So far only 10,000 tickets have been sold for the very first event of the Games, the Great Britain women's football team against New Zealand and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on July 25.
A further 40,000 are available but London 2012 commercial director Chris Townsend confirmed that organisers do not expect to sell out the whole stadium by saying they can open up other parts of the stands if there is sufficient demand.
London 2012 will also launch a marketing programme aimed at boosting interest in the football tournament.
Townsend added: "The UK has a large appetite for football and we are going to make sure everyone knows how exciting this competition is going to be.
"It is a chance to see some of the world's most exciting young footballers in the Olympic Games."
London 2012 also confirmed that buying a football ticket during this sale will not affect eligibility for future ticket sales - those who have been unsuccessful in buying any tickets so far will still get the first chance when the 1million non-football tickets go on sale even if they buy a football ticket.
Football tickets start at £20 for adults, with children under 16 able to "pay your age" and over 60s paying as little as £16 at many matches.
The six stadiums hosting Olympic matches have the following number of tickets available:
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff - 400,000
Coventry Stadium - 130,000
Hampden Park, Glasgow - 200,000
St James' Park, Newcastle - 200,000
Old Trafford, Manchester - 250,000
Wembley, London - 150,000.
