Paul Jewell: Looking to strengthen squad

Paul Jewell: Looking to strengthen squad

Paul Jewell is looking to add as many as five quality additions to Ipswich's squad over the summer.

The Town boss has already told the likes of Lee Bowyer, Ibrahima Sonko, Richard Wright and Cody Cropper that they will not be offered new deals, while midfielder Grant Leadbitter announced on Friday he would not be renewing his contract at Portman Road.

That leaves Jewell preparing for a summer overhaul after a disappointing 15th-placed finish, some 14 points adrift of the play-off places, with the Liverpudlian far from happy despite watching his side wrap up the season with a 3-2 victory away at Doncaster.

"I just think it (the performance) highlighted the need for four or five quality players coming to our club," he said.
