Stokes struck the game's winner after 29 minutes.

Anthony Stokes' first-half tap-in gave much-changed Celtic a 1-0 victory over St Johnstone in their insipid Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Parkhead.

The Irishman, one of seven changes to Neil Lennon's side, struck from close range in the 29th minute after strike partner Mo Bangura had caused some confusion in the visitors' defence following a Hoops corner.

Celtic stand-in keeper Lukasz Zaluska made a good save from Saints midfielder Murray Davidson just before the interval and Bangura struck the post after the break but the match was generally a lacklustre one and the champions ran out comfortable winners.
