Alan Maybury: Hibs trial

Alan Maybury: Hibs trial

Alan Maybury and Mark Kerr are hoping to play their way to permanent deals at Hibernian after joining the Edinburgh club on trial on Monday.

Republic of Ireland defender Maybury is out of contract after his St Johnstone contract ran out while Kerr has been offered an extension to his current one at Dunfermline, where he spent the latter part of last season, but has yet to sign.

Hibs boss Pat Fenlon has made no secret of his need to sign a goalkeeper after Graham Stack was released by the club and with No 1 Mark Brown stalling on a new deal.

And, with his priorities set elsewhere, Maybury admits fears that, even if the out-of-contract pair do catch the eye of Fenlon, they still may not be employed by the club.

"My agent knows Pat," explained Maybury. "That is how it came about and I do not want to get left behind in terms of pre-season work.

"It is not an easy time for clubs with their budgets. The main thing is I am right for whatever happens."
