Djibril Cisse: Picked up hamstring injury

QPR manager Mark Hughes hopes to have Djibril Cisse back in "a week to 10 days" after he sustained a hamstring injury in a pre-season friendly.

The France international had to come off in the 20th minute of the west Londoners' 5-0 win over Kelantan in Malaysia.

Cisse was replaced by Andrew Johnson as he was feeling some discomfort in his hamstring, but manager Hughes hopes it is not too serious.

"Djib felt some reaction in his hamstring," he told the club's official website, qpr.co.uk.

"He did the right thing by coming off quickly so that he didn't do any more damage.

"We're hopeful that it's just a slight strain and nothing more serious than that.

"We'll have to wait for a couple of days before it settles down and then we can make a more definite decision.

"It's probably too early to make a guess on how long he'll be out for, but we don't really want him to be training at this time of the season.

"You have to be cautious and take precautions so that injuries don't occur.

"We're hopeful it won't be any longer than a week to 10 days, but it's too early to say for definite."

Cisse's injury was the only disappointment of the evening for QPR as they cruised to victory against the Malaysian league champions at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, Michael Harriman, Jamie Mackie, Bobby Zamora and Heidar Helguson were all on target for the Rs, who handed England goalkeeper Robert Green his debut.
