Kevin Mirallas marked his first Everton start by scoring two goals and setting up two more as the Toffees cruised into the Capital One Cup third round with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Leyton Orient at Goodison Park.

The hosts raced into a 4-0 lead in the first half with Mirallas - signed from Olympiakos earlier this month - proving the star of the show. The striker netted in the 16th minute, teed up Leon Osman in the 22nd, added his second in the 29th and then squared for Victor Anichebe to finish in the 35th.

Their npower League One opponents could offer little in response and Everton added another goal after the break, Magaye Gueye volleying home in the 67th minute.

Afterwards Everton assistant manager Steve Round saluted an impressive performance from Mirallas.

He told www.evertonfc.com: "Kevin gave us a cameo of what he's about with his speed, his movement and his finishing.

"He showed why he was one of the top goalscorers in Greece.

"That is why we have got him at the club. He tired quite badly in the second half but we expected that.

"He missed quite a chunk of pre-season with a knee injury. He's not really up to speed yet but he is getting there."
