Stacy Lewis: Shares the lead

Home favourite Sarah Kemp and American Stacy Lewis share the lead after the opening round of the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne.

The duo carded four-under par rounds of 69 in near perfect conditions, but stalking the pair just one shot behind in a group of three players is world number one Yani Tseng.

Kemp managed to pick up four shots in her round without a blemish, while Lewis' six birdies were offset by two bogeys.

Tseng bogeyed her first hole, the 10th, but gained four birdies in her next eight holes to make the turn at three under.

The 22-year-old from Taiwan did manage to get to four under with one to play, but bogeyed her final hole to sign for a 70.

American Brittany Lincicome and Paraguayan Julieta Granada joined Tseng at three-under, while Englishwoman Melissa Reid and Australian Sarah Oh are in a group of five tied for sixth at two-under.

There were a host of big names who failed to fire on the opening day, with Australia's Karrie Webb (75), world number two Suzann Pettersen (80) and Swede Sophie Gustafson (80) all struggling on the quick greens.
