Azahara Munoz claimed the Sybase Match Play Championship with a 2&1 win in a seesaw final against Candie Kung.
In a tournament that has seen its fair share of shocks, the final failed to produce another as the world number 27 from Spain came out on top against her Taiwanese opponent, ranked 102.
Munoz took the early advantage as Kung bogeyed the first, but the Taiwanese player, who earlier in the tournament beat world number one Yani Tseng, stormed back to take the lead with a birdie at the second and a par at seventh.
But the Spaniard made the decisive move by winning three of four holes from the ninth, with two pars and a birdie at the par-five 11th.
With both players struggling for birdies, Kung parred the 14th to move to within a hole of her opponent, but a terrible 16th effectively ended her challenge as a double bogey handed the hole to Munoz.
And a half at 17 ended the contest, giving Munoz her first LPGA title and a prize fund of 1.5million US dollars.
Morgan Pressel, who lost to Munoz in the semi-finals, claimed third place with a 2&1 win over fellow American Vicky Hurst.
Final: Azahara Munoz (Spa) bt Candie Kung (Tai) 2 & 1
Consolation Match: Morgan Pressel bt Vicky Hurst 2 & 1
