Celebrations begin for Great Britain and Ireland

Europe's golfers today completed an unprecedented clean sweep of major trophies against America when Britain and Ireland's women amateurs won back the Curtis Cup at Nairn.

Their first success since 1996 follows victories in the Ryder, Solheim and Walker Cups and came after they were whitewashed in the opening foursomes on Friday.

The home side were still a point behind going into the eight concluding singles, but won the session 5-3 for a 10 1/2-9 1/2 triumph.

Kelly Tidy, Amy Boulden and Holly Clyburn took the first three games, then Charley Hull beat Lindy Duncan and Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow achieved the match-winning point by defeating Amy Anderson 4&2.
