Duchess Of Cornwall: Attending Sandown

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall will attend Sandown on Friday February 17 for the Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day, in aid of Help for Heroes.

On arrival, Her Royal Highness will be greeted by the Master Gunner of The Royal Artillery before being introduced to many of the military personnel present.

The Duchess will listen to last year's Christmas number one by the Military Wives Choir - 'Wherever You Are' - and will meet the performers.

She will also be introduced to Michael Morpurgo, author of the bestselling novel 'War Horse', which is now a Hollywood Blockbuster and will watch a display by the 'Warhorse' puppet Topthorn.

The Duchess will also make presentations to the winner and runners up in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup.

David Mackinnon, Managing Director of Sandown Park Racecourse said: "We are honoured to be graced by a visit from HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to our most historical race meeting, which was first run in 1863.

"We have great admiration and respect for the work the armed forces do and are delighted HRH will be present on the day to help us celebrate the contribution they make."
