It has been a tough week for Punchestown

Officials at Punchestown will stage a precautionary inspection at 8am ahead of the final day of the Festival on Saturday.

The County Kildare track has been hit by significant rainfall all week and Punchestown racing manager Richie Galway feels it is sensible to check on conditions ahead of Saturday's card.

He said: "The track has had a tough week and while it is perfectly raceable we want to be prudent and so will have a precautionary inspection in the morning.

"The forecast is for it to be dry tonight with possible showers tomorrow."
