Marco Botti's unbeaten Kingsdesire is likely to have his next start in the Stobart Barristers Dee Stakes at Chester's May meeting.

A son of 2000 Guineas winner King's Best, he won on his debut at Kempton last year before winning a competitive handicap at Doncaster on his reappearance in good style.

Three-quarters of a length behind him on Town Moor was Andrew Balding's Goldoni, who subsequently came out and won the Investec Derby Trial at Epsom.

"Obviously he won well at Doncaster and we were pleased to see the runner-up come out and win well," said Botti.

"The plan is to head to Chester for the Dee Stakes. We think he'll handle the track as he's a strong traveller.

"We've left him in the Dante and the races are a week apart so he won't run in both.

"It depends on the ground at Chester and a few other things. If it was very soft, we might wait for York but we'll see how the races shape up.

"The Dee tends not to be too tough a race. It's obviously a big step up from a handicap but Chester might be a bit easier than York. I suppose it might depend on what Camelot does, too.

"He won't get a stiff mile and a half so we didn't enter him in the Derby. The French Derby would be an obvious race for him and he's entered in that.

"We've always liked him and he progressed through the winter, he's a very nice horse."
