Leicester: Saturated after recent rains

Leicester: Saturated after recent rains

Leicester will inspect at 8am on Tuesday ahead of Thursday's meeting.

Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson was forced to abandon last Saturday's meeting due to waterlogging and the track has seen even more rain over the weekend.

"It's just unbelievable how much rain we have had. We have had just under six inches in April and we only had 17 inches in the whole of 2011," said Stevenson.

"We had a further 34 millimetres over the weekend and the ground is absolutely saturated, the top profile of the soil can't take any more.

"It's a lovely morning here and if we had a week of this, you never know. We will have a look in the morning and take a view from there."
