Trumpet Major: Can make a big noise in the Guineas

Kieren Fallon believes Trumpet Major could be the horse to give Camelot most to do in Saturday's QIPCO 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Richard Hannon's charge is a top-price 11-1 for the colts' Classic after a runaway win in the Craven Stakes over Saturday's course and distance last month.

That was on rain-softened ground, and, with conditions turning in his favour, Fallon is expecting a big run.

The former champion jockey wrote in his Racing Post Weekender column:

"Of those with form I am a big fan of Trumpet Major who showed that soft ground is no barrier to his chances when taking the Craven Stakes emphatically last month.

"Richard Hannon is a terrific trainer with a good record in this Classic and, of his four entries, this colt has the best chance and is by no means out of it.

"He is tough and genuine and when many of his rivals will be crying enough he will be finding more."

Meanwhile, Fallon is very sweet on the chances of Aidan O'Brien's filly Maybe in Sunday's QIPCO 1,000 Guineas.

He continued: "I nominated (Maybe) as one of my horses to follow at the start of the season when she was 7-2 for the 1,000 Guineas, and I hope many of you got on then.

"She is down to 11-8 now but I still believe she will win. In fact I would say fill your boots."
