Another smart two-year-old from Richard Hannon's seemingly inexhaustible supply-line provided Richard Hughes with his first winner of the season at Kempton.
Hughes, who only returned on Tuesday from his 50-day suspension imposed in India, did not have to work too hard on Lyric Ace as he readily came a length and three-quarters clear in the Bet At Bluesquare.com Conditions Stakes.
The 4-7 favourite was only fourth behind Baileys Jubilee on his debut at this course last month, but went on to take a maiden at Leicester.
"One down, 99 more to go!" said Hughes. "For a very fast horse he's got a great stride on him, and he was on the wrong leg all the way, so this wasn't his track."
Richard Hannon jnr, the trainer's son and assistant, said: "It's good to have him (Hughes) back, as he knows these two-year-olds before they're even on the track.
"This is a really nice horse. He's got to be in the Royal Ascot plans and he might well go over to Ireland next for the Marble Hill Stakes."
Meanwhile Sylvester Kirk's terrific start to the campaign continued with Great Shot (11-1) in the Follow Us On Twitter @bluesq Handicap.
