![]() | 2pts win Maybe in 1000 Guineas at 13/8 (sportingbet). | Rock-solid credentials and very much the one to beat. |
![]() | 1pt e.w. Diala in 1000 Guineas at 18/1 (1/4 1,2,3, sportingbet). | Pleasing winner of a maiden contest and can step up on that effort. |
It is hard to pick too many holes in the credentials of Maybe ahead of the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
She is beautifully bred out of Galileo and a Danehill mare and remains unbeaten after five starts as a two-year-old.
She was a highly impressive winner of the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and then followed up later with Group 1 success in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.
She has been off the course for quite a long time and there is a chance she could be a little ring-rusty but the mile looks sure to suit her and she represents really solid form so she is bound to take a lot of beating.
Moonstone Magic is second favourite after two wins this season in maiden company at Leicester and then the Group 3 Fred Darling at Newbury.
She has been supplemented for this race at some cost but this is a step up in class although the ground is certainly in her favour.
Godolphin look strongly represented with Discourse and Lyric Of Light and both did nothing wrong as juveniles.
Discourse has been off the track for quite a while after beating Lily's Angel in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket and that form would perhaps not been quite good enough here.
There could be a slight doubt about Lyric Of Light over a really stiff mile as she only scraped home narrowly from Samitar in the Fillies' Mile last September.
More interesting potentially is the French filly Mashoora, who won very stylishly at Maisons-Laffitte the other day over seven furlongs and looks to have a lot of gears.
I saw Diala win a little maiden at Newmarket in October and was really taken by that victory so she could be a nice filly trained by William Haggas.
I take her to go well each-way but Maybe - probably - is going to be hard to beat.
