SATURATED WARWICK ABANDONED

Warwick: Monday meeting off

Warwick: Monday meeting off

Warwick's meeting on Bank Holiday Monday has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Course officials were left with no choice but to make an early call after the track was saturated by 103 millimetres of rainfall in April.

Further rain earlier in the week merely compounded an irretrievable situation.

Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma said on Saturday morning: "There has been some improvement since Friday, but nowhere near enough for the meeting to go ahead.

"By calling off the meeting now, we have given everyone enough notice to make other plans."
