Curren Black Hill retained his unbeaten record in the NHK Mile Cup in Japan on Sunday.
The Grade One contest was opened to international raiders in 2009 and has been won by greats such as El Condor Pasa and Seeking The Pearl while last year's winner, Grand Prix Boss, raced against Frankel in the St James's Palace Stakes.
Joining the illustrious roll of honour is Osamu Hirata's colt Curren Black Hill who took his record to four out of four with a ready three and a half length success to provide his trainer and jockey, Shinichiro Akiyama, with a first success at this level.
From the first crop of multiple Grade One winner Daiwa Major, the three year old became the first colt to capture the title having been unraced as a juvenile just four months after making his debut.
Alfredo, the Champion Juvenile of 2011, chased him home to leave behind a disappointing seasonal reappearance with Clarente a neck back in third but it was a bunch finish for the minors with a nose and a neck separating the next two places.
