Fort Bastion made a perfectly accomplished seasonal debut at Salisbury when winning the Betfred Mobile Maiden Stakes at short odds.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt finished runner-up in last season's Acomb Stakes and Chesham Stakes, and was not unduly troubled in breaking his maiden at the sixth attempt.
Fort Bastion (1-8 favourite) closely tracked subsequent runner-up Zhiggy's Stardust and Top Design before taking the lead two furlongs out.
Richard Hughes did not need to get too animated in the saddle from then on, with the 12-length winning margin a decent measure of his dominance.
