Mikel Delzangles: Classic run next

QIPCO 2000 Guineas third Hermival is set to run in either the Irish 2000 Guineas or French Derby following his fine performance at Newmarket.

Mikel Delzangles saddled Makfi to win the colts' Classic in 2010 and while Hermival could not follow in his hoofprints on the Rowley Mile, he was far from disgraced in finishing third.

His performance can be given extra merit due to the fact he raced away from the main group of horses, finishing first of the four that raced on the far side of the track.

"It was a pity he was not in the main group of horses, but he still ran very well," said Delzangles.

"He has come out of the race fine and we now need to decide whether to stay at a mile in the Irish Guineas, or step up for the French Derby. We will have to pick one of those races as I don't think we can do both."
