Ektihaam is likely to next run in the Betfred Dante Stakes at York on Thursday week after connections decided to skip Chester.
The Roger Varian-trained colt, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, was not declared for the MBNA Chester Vase on Thursday and will not take up his entry in Friday's Stobart Barristers Dee Stakes.
"Ektihaam is not going to run this week, he's likely to go for the Dante at York next week," said Varian.
"We entered him up to give ourselves options, but the Dante has been the race on our minds since he won at Newbury.
"York is such a fair, galloping track. The horse should be suited by the track.
"I'm not saying he wouldn't have handled Chester but we like to go to a track that suits a horse and that's York, I think."
