Richard Fahey is counting down the days to Mickdaam's date with destiny in the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 2 following his victory at Chester.
The Dubawi colt will be the Malton trainer's first runner in the premier Classic after booking his place with a narrow victory in the Group Three MBNA Chester Vase on Thursday.
"He's come out of the race well. We're happy with him," said Fahey.
"He's trotted up sound and eaten up. He's tough and he's not a bad horse.
"He's on course for Epsom as long as we can get him there. Things are going well at the moment.
"It was nice to get that run into him at Chester. It was a good effort. We'll see what happens."
