Harris Tweed: Looking to claim the Yorkshire Cup

Harris Tweed: Looking to claim the Yorkshire Cup

13:30 Langleys Solicitors LLP E.B.F. Fillies' Stakes

This looks to be all about BAILEYS JUBILEE, who has been hugely impressive in victories at Kempton and Newmarket. This is a step up in grade but it will take a smart performance to lower the colours of Mark Johnston's speedy filly. The danger may be Ingleby Royale, who had subsequent winners Ceiling Kitty and Mayfield Girl behind when landing a maiden auction at Beverley last month and is open to further improvement. It's interesting that trainer Kevin Ryan is pitching newcomer Ana Emaratiya straight into Listed company and he also runs Southwell winner Somethingboutmary.

14:00 Sportingbet Jorvik Handicap

Easy Terms was superbly placed to win four in a row last year and she made a winning reappearance at Pontefract. This is a step up in class, however, and the mare is now on a career-high mark. Deauville Flyer dead-heated with stable companion Mirrored over 1m2f at Pontefract last month and is only a couple of pounds higher. He has to go on the short-list with the extra quarter-mile in his favour, though Tim Easterby also saddles fellow C&D winner Crackentorp. War Poet comes here off the back of a cosy win at Doncaster but Lyric Street and Spifer may need this. Tepmokea and Warlu Way are capable of running well fresh, however, and Bridle Belle is starting to look well handicapped but the one to beat is probably CAUCUS. Lightly-raced, he wasn't beaten far in a hot handicap at Newmarket off this mark on his reappearance and will strip fitter here.

14:30 Sportingbet Yorkshire Cup

Harris Tweed is as game as they come and simply kept pulling out more when challenged in his successful reappearance at Newbury. Arctic Cosmos was his market rival that day but patently failed to handle the soft ground and finished tailed off. He's better than that and can't be discounted on this better going while Blue Bajan had Electrolyser well behind when runner-up in this 12 months ago and should be approaching peak fitness now. Red Cadeaux, placed in both the Melbourne Cup and Hong Kong Vase at the end of last year, found only Colour Vision too strong on his reappearance in the Sagaro Stakes and is another to consider but Be Fabulous is probably best watched with Godolphin's runners apparently a little behind schedule at present. TIMES UP made excellent progress last season and can continue on an upward curve by landing his first Group 2 as he probably has more pace than these and the drying ground will suit him admirably on his comeback run.

15:00 EquinITy Powered By Garmin Fillies' Stakes

LAUGH OUT LOUD beat Way Too Hot and Tactfully in a conditions stakes on the Polytrack last month and was only a short-head behind Lily's Angel when the pair were seventh and eighth respectively in the 1000 Guineas. Mick Channon's filly is 3lb better off here and is entitled to turn the tables - she can return to winning ways. Electrelane was well beaten on her reappearance in the Fred Darling and has never raced on ground as quick as this while What's Up will struggle to reverse Nell Gwyn running with Lily's Angel.

15:35 Ralph Raper Memorial Handicap

Mick Easterby has been responsible for the last two winners of this three-year-old sprint and has another live candidate this term in the shape of TOWBEE. He may have had the best of the draw at Beverley last time and carries a penalty here but is clearly much improved on Turf and could be a bit better than his current handicap mark. Another penalised runner, Windsor scorer Tioman Pearl, appears to have found his best trip but has quicker conditions to deal with here. Sky Crossing has plenty of pace and should be suited by the drop to 5f while Master Bond and Chooseday were second and third behind Rusty Rocket at Haydock and there should be little between them today on the revised terms. Morocco Moon and Lupin Pooter are lightly raced while Shirley Teasdale takes 7lb off Come On Dave and he may be the pick of the remainder.

16:10 sportingbet.com Handicap

Sandusky ran well on his reappearance at Newmarket but the drop in distance and quicker ground may not be in his favour. Ripon second Troopingthecolour could make his presence felt again while Tres Coronas was third in the City And Surburban at Epsom, though is another better on a softer surface. Media Hype has been in decent form already this season and Staff Sergeant won at Musselburgh two weeks ago while Ripon second Silvery Moon is worth another try over 1m2f this year. Camborne was well beaten on his Turf debut at Newcastle, however, and has a bit to prove now and we prefer SHAMDARLEY. Successful over C&D in October, he was a real eye-catcher in the Spring Mile at Doncaster on his reappearance and will go close with a clear run today. Pendragon often runs well in this type of race and could be the pick of the remainder.

16:45 Sportingbet Handicap

The step up to 1m4f was always going to suit KEY GOLD and she was ridden with plenty of confidence to get off the mark at Musselburgh last month after a promising reappearance on the Polytrack. There should be more to come from Mark Johnston's filly and she can take this rise in grade in her stride. Daneking should improve for his comeback run behind Samba King at Sandown and Blades Lad made all at Ripon, though has been done no favours by the handicapper. More interesting is Estedaama, who is stoutly bred and certainly wasn't stopping when successful over 1m1f at Folkestone last time. Green Mitas isn't without ability and should get off the mark when his sights are lowered a little but Spanish Wedding was a little disappointing at Kempton and is a pound higher here.
