![]() | 2pts win Times Up in 14.30 York at best morning price. | Conditions ideal and he's not stopped improving yet. |
The sportingbet Yorkshire Cup is the feature race at York on Friday and while there's a host of familiar faces in there, we have a new one too in Be Fabulous who has joined Godolphin.
She developed into a smart stayer in France last season and won the Prix Royal Oak on her final start. She's a fascinating runner here in the absence of stablemate Opinion Poll but she does have a penalty to carry.
Harris Tweed is a leading player. He's an admirable horse and made all the running to win at Newbury first-time-out and ground conditions all seem to come alike to him. I do think a mile-and-six is the top end of his stamina range and he's always there to be shot at but York is a good course for a front-runner and I'm sure he'll run well.
Arctic Cosmos is a former St Leger winner but he needs to bounce back after disappointing behind Harris Tweed at Newbury.
Red Cadeaux ran a cracking race in the Melbourne Cup last autumn and came back to finish a fine second to Colour Vision at Kempton on his reappearance. That horse finished just ahead of Times Up when they were third and fifth behind Fame And Glory in the big staying race on QIPCO Champions Day at Ascot last autumn.
I think Times Up is an interesting runner here. He's a course and distance winner who has improved every season he's raced so far. This is his ideal distance, two miles just stretches him, and at around 6-1 he looks the value bet.
