Chinchon gave Brazilian trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias a memorable night as he swooped to conquer in the Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji.
Despite getting into a wash of sweat in the preliminaries, the seven-year-old proved far too strong for the former Clive Brittain-trained Zaidan and long time leader Flax in an eventful race.
Fifth in the corresponding race 12 months ago when meeting trouble in running, Chinchon had finished in the ruck in last month's Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin.
However, on this occasion he displayed great tactical skills to maintain a good position from which to strike under Olivier Doleuze.
Some of the interest was taken out of the Group One prize when Godolphin's City Style became fractious in the stalls and had to be withdrawn, making it a fruitless first visit to Kranji for Mickael Barzalona.
Doleuze said: "I can't believe it, I'm still up in the air. I'll come down to earth in a day or so. It means an awful lot to me to win this race in Singapore.
"I was one of the early ones to come out of Europe to ride here, which makes this special.
"I had a good trip and he improved his position when I asked him, and he finished really well."
Favourite Zazou was handy throughout but came back with excuses, in fourth, under Andreas Suborics who said: "He ran a very good race, but he's not had much luck in running."
Gerald Mosse said of the Rod Collet-trained Dream Peace: "We were having a lovely run but after coming wide round the home turn he was squeezed and lost around five lengths."
