Dragon Pulse: Aiming for Ascot

Dragon Pulse: Aiming for Ascot

Mikel Delzangles is hoping to get Dragon Pulse back on song for Royal Ascot after he returned home "very stiff" following the French 2000 Guineas.

The former Jessica Harrington inmate made a winning debut for his new trainer when narrowly getting the better of dual Group One winner Dabirsim in the Prix de Fontainebleau at Longchamp in April.

But he finished a disappointing ninth in the French Classic - although he was not beaten all that far - and Delzangles feels his charge was not at his best on the day.

"He didn't quicken and he was very bad the day after the race. He was very stiff and he had a lot of problems with his back and his neck and everything, but he is much better now," Delzangles told At The Races.

"If he recovers well, we could aim for the St James's Palace at Royal Ascot."
