Cologne 16.15 - Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2,000 Guineas
British raiders have a good recent record in this contest and today's representatives can be given a chance. Only a length separated Caspar Netscher and Red Duke when both were well beaten behind Camelot in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket though the former has still to prove he truly gets the mile and the latter wasn't at his best. The returning Tai Chi is best of the home challengers on last year's form with a third in the Criterium De Saint-Cloud to his credit and he also beat AMARILLO over C&D before that. The latter may have caught up with him this year, however, judged on last month's seven length victory at Dusseldorf and Peter Schiergen's colt gets the vote to reverse running and land this. Energizer beat both Pastorius and Kolonel when runner-up at Krefeld last month and could prove best of the remainder.
