Primaeval: Hunt Cup run unlikely

James Fanshawe has again warned Royal Hunt Cup favourite Primaeval is likely to miss the race in favour of another Royal Ascot contest.

The gelding, part-owned by TV stars Ant and Dec, is on a real roll at the moment but connections feel he is better at seven furlongs.

"Primaeval is entered in the Hunt Cup but he's more likely to go for the Buckingham Palace on Friday although that's not set in stone," Fanshawe told At The Races.

"I'd rather go seven furlongs with him than a mile, he's won three of his last four races and they've all been over a seven and it is a stiff mile at Ascot.

"We'll see what the weather's like, how much weight he has in the Buckingham Palace and that sort of thing. He likes good ground and has a good record at the track."
