Jockey Derek Fox was banned 17 days for using his whip above the permitted level at Hexham.

Fox finished second aboard Sean Airgead in the extended two-and-a-half-mile beginners' chase which was won by Flinty Bay.

The local stewards took a dim view of his actions in the saddle, however, and hit the 7lb claimer with a lengthy suspension on various dates in late June and July.
