Good money arrived early for this course and distance winner in what is an extremely competitive opener at York this afternoon. Lightly raced last season, the Tony Newcombe-trained gelding made a lacklustre return at Sandown last month when last of nine, but the forecast soft ground should be in his favour and he is fairly well-treated on his best form having won off 88 back in 2010.
Richard Fahey appears to have a good bunch of two year olds this term having already sent out 8 winners and the stable had a well backed winning debutant at the track yesterday. It is therefore not surprising that Cash Is King has seen support this morning. The February foal should be at home on the ground being by Bahamian Bounty, and if the money is right and cash is king, then a bold showing is in the offing for this £80,000 purchase.
Soft ground will be no problem for Paul Midgley's representative in the lucky last at York this afternoon with the course and distance winner bidding to maintain the good form of the stable. Although 3lb above his last winning mark, the six-year-old was progressive last term racking up five wins and his latest run then third at Ripon suggests there may yet be more to come.
