Camelot: Entered for the Great Voltigeur

Camelot: Entered for the Great Voltigeur

Camelot has been given an entry for the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on August 22.

It was widely believed Aidan O'Brien's 2000 Guineas and dual Derby winner would head for the Ladbrokes St Leger without having another run, but the trainer has given him the option of the premier trial for the final Classic of the season.

A total of 43 entries were received for the race, with O'Brien's options stretching into double figures, but there are a number of other interesting horses in the race.

They include David Lanigan's Derby runner-up Main Sequence, Henry Cecil's pair of Thomas Chippendale and Noble Mission, who were first and second in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, and a strong squad for John Gosden.

These are headed by Michelangelo, who burst into the Leger reckoning when winning at Newmarket last weekend, as well as the useful Thought Worthy and Shantaram.
