Cogito: May miss the Coral Eclipse due to the rain

Brian Meehan's Cogito could miss Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown due to the ground.

The Giant's Causeway colt has already recorded a victory at the course when taking the Listed Heron Stakes over a mile at the end of May.

He was then stepped up in class for the St James's Palace Stakes but was one of a number of runners to be hampered and only finished eighth, just over five lengths behind his stablemate Most Improved.

Jamie McCalmont, racing manager to Cogito's owner, Paul Reddam, said: "I'd say at the moment it's unlikely he'll run with all the rain that's around."

The going at Sandown was reported to be good, good to firm in places on the round course, according to the track's official Twitter account, but the forecast for the next few days is uncertain.
