Gatewood: Australian syndicate bought share in Melbourne Cup hope

Australian-based syndicate OTI Racing have purchased a 50% share in the John Gosden-trained Gatewood who is being aimed at the Melbourne Cup.

The four-year-old is progressing at a rate of knots and has won all three races this season, including a handicap at Epsom on Derby day and the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot, where he became owner George Strawbridge's first winner at the big meeting.

OTI Racing have had success recently with the likes of Bauer and Quest For Peace and Gatewood was purchased for themI by bloodstock agents Alastair Donald and Ed Sackville, who tweeted: "Very excited to have bought a 50% share in 4.C (four-year-old colt) Gatewood for @OTIRacing , current 16-1 joint fav for Melbourne Cup."
