Stone Of Folca: Glorious Goodwood is Plan A

Stone Of Folca: Glorious Goodwood is Plan A

Stone Of Folca looks like being in action on Friday at either Goodwood or Deauville.

Trainer John Best would like to run his speedster in the Gordon's King George Stakes on the Sussex Downs if the ground is fast enough.

However, if conditions soften then he would send the four-year-old to France for the Prix du Cercle the same day.

The Kodiac gelding has speed to burn, as he showed when covering five furlongs in 53.69 seconds when winning at Epsom in June.

Stone Of Folca ran in the Goodwood Group Two last year, but the going was not ideal and he finished unplaced behind Masamah.

Twelve months earlier, he was runner-up to Zebedee in the Molecomb Stakes over the course and distance.

"He's in very good form and the plan is to go to Goodwood on Friday for the King George," said the Maidstone handler.

"I do also have him entered at Deauville the same day in a Listed race if for any reason the ground at Goodwood goes wrong as we want it quick.

"Ideally we would like it good to firm. I'm hoping as it's one of the races at the end of the five days they will not be watering close to the end of the meeting.

"He was second there behind Zebedee in the Molecomb a couple of years ago so the track will suit him and I just hope the going will.

"Last year we never got our ground and the only time so far this year was at Epsom."
