Andrew Wootton with today's market movers from the Sky Bet trading room including a Pontefract gamble.
3.40 Carlisle - Eltheeb 7/2 from 7/1
Eltheeb is yet to get to get off the mark for current trainer David O'Meara, having been switched to his yard from George Moore's at the beginning of the season, but has been well backed to land this competitive handicap. The seven year old began the season well with a decent 3rd at Thirsk before just getting chinned close home at York but things haven't gone to plan since; returning lame from Redcar and not appreciating the soft ground here last time. A return to a sounder surface looks sure to suit and a mark of 82 looks well within his compass.
4.50 Pontefract - Warcrown 3/1 from 6/1
The most experienced runner in the field has been backed to land the mile maiden at Pontefract. Richard Fahey sends this three year old son of Azamour out for his fifth visit to the track having improved with each of his runs the last twice. He has made the frame on each of his two starts this term and looks to be improving all the time. He races for the first time today on fast ground and punters seem to fancy that this could bring the extra improvement required to break his maiden tag.
5.30 Stratford - Petie Mcsweetie 4/1 from 8/1
It seems that experience is the order of the day as punters again place faith in the most experienced runner as Petie Mcsweetie has been well supported to land the closing bumper at Stratford for Noel Quinlan. He runs runs for the first time under rules today having run previously in the point-to-point sphere. This five year old gelding has been improving all the time in points with his latest run his best so far when beaten just two lengths and he is fancied to carry on that progression into the professional sphere.
