Wild Coco: Looks primed for success

Wild Coco: Looks primed for success

Simon Holt previews Thursday's DBS Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster and fancies Sir Henry Cecil's Wild Coco.

2pts win Wild Coco in 14.55 Doncaster at best morning price.

The feature race on day two of the Doncaster St Leger meeting is the DBS Park Hill Stakes in which Wild Coco is fancied to confirm her Glorious Goodwood superiority over The Queen's filly Estimate.

Trained by Sir Henry Cecil, Wild Coco showed serious potential last season only to apparantly go off the boil on her final two outings.

But she returned to action in impressive fashion on the Sussex Downs with a comfortable victory over Jehannedarc with Estimate (beaten about three lengths) in third and Hazel Lavery, who also runs here, only ninth.

Estimate may well be suited by this more galloping course, especially as she had previously won the Queens Vase over two miles, but Wild Coco should also improve from that race.

Hazel Lavery had earlier recorded a useful victory at Newmarket in July with another of the runners here Ambivalent back in third so the Goodwood form looks better.

Godolphin's Kailani is an interesting rival, however, as she looked smart when winning the Pretty Polly Stakes (by seven lengths from Hazel Lavery) at Newmarket in the spring only to then disappoint in the Oaks and at Royal Ascot. This is her first outing since June and she remains a filly of potential.

John Gosden's representative Gallipot is superbly bred but faces a big step up in class after two handicap victories on the all weather course at Kempton.
