Fontwell have called an inspection for 8am on Boxing Day for their meeting later that day.

The Sussex track was one of those not to call an inspection before Christmas Day, but heavy rain overnight forced officials to change their plans.

More than 17 millimetres of rain fell and when dawn broke there were areas of standing water.

Clerk of the course Ed Arkell said: "We were forecast showers, but we had rather more than just showers.

"Today (Christmas Day) will be a windy day, which could help us, although there might be more rain to come.

"It's going to be a real case of waiting to see happens with the weather."
